Mark Guthrie
CEO
Mark Guthrie, CEO Ray White Cranbourne and Cheltenham, is unique among property marketing’s elite. Unlike many of Mark’s peers, property is a life-long passion; and not something he stumbled into.
The “thrill of the sell” was with Mark from the outset of his career in the early 90’s as a young, eager, real estate cadet in the demanding Frankston market; and has propelled him to his current success at the helm of Cranbourne’s largest, and most innovative property marketing team two decades later, as well as leading the ever growing team at Ray White Cheltenham.
A diverse understanding of, and experience across all aspects of the real estate industry, further distinguishes Mark from his competitors.
After establishing himself as a talented marketer and negotiator with Ray White Frankston, Mark broadened his experience in 1994, taking on a position with Richard Ellis in the challenging commercial/industrial sector as an Industrial Sales and Leasing Consultant. During this period, Mark was responsible for the property interests of a stable of high profile corporate clients and played an integral role in negotiating sales and acquisitions in the tens of millions for the likes of Linfox and Moreland City Council.
To ensure his well-rounded credentials, Mark accepted an international posting in 1996, with New Zealand’s Harvey Group. As Auction Director, Mark was tasked with the responsibility of five regional offices and over 70 staff, calling in excess of 1,000 auctions in a four-year period. During this time, Mark was an integral part of every campaign and achieved some of the highest clearance rates on record in the challenging Auckland market.
In 2000, Mark married in Melbourne and was approached to re-join the Ray White family. Within the corporate head office structure, Mark established the position of Associate in charge of Victorian and Tasmanian training. Over a two year period, Mark was fundamental in the launch of close to a dozen new Ray White franchises.
His consulting services ensured these new businesses and their agents were trained in line with the company’s vibrant, enthusiastic and outgoing approach to real estate. With a plethora of domestic and commercial sales and marketing experience, international exposure, hundreds of auction hours and training expertise, the “thrill of the sell” once again lured Mark in 2004 when he opened Ray White Cranbourne.
Mark has grown the Cranbourne office into one of the company’s most consistently high performing offices and after a number of moves due to outgrowing premises the near 50 strong team have settled in state of the art premises in Bakewell Street.
He is recognized through Ray White’s Performing Elites group and is a regular attendee at the Flywheels Conference for Ray White’s top businesses based on growth. Mark is an innovator in the Casey growth corridor and was the first to trial in-room auctions in the region.
In 2015, Mark expanded his directorship portfolio and commitment to the Ray White brand, acquiring the Cheltenham franchise. This expansion enabled Mark to develop closer ties with his local community...something he feels very passionate about, and provided a new challenge of growing the office into the market leader within the bayside suburb and surrounding area.
Passionate about training and personal development, Mark hosts regular company retreats with International guest speakers, and keeps his motivation and currency in peak condition with the support of a long term business coach.
Family keep Mark grounded and every weekend he loves cheering for his daughters from the side of the netball court whether they are playing or umpiring. He always makes time for his beloved Magpies, enjoys a regular game of golf and keeps fit with a love of cycling. Mark is also heavily involved in local community activities and has a belief that we should give back and help those less fortunate in their circumstances, often not of their own making. Mark has been President of the local charity Backpacks4vickids since 2016 and has assisted in the growth of this organisation. He is also involved in the local food van (providing hot meals to locals in need) and numerous other local initiatives.
