Melbourne Stars Family Fun Day December 9th

The Melbourne Stars are excited to announce their first ever FAMILY FUN DAY on Sunday 9 December 2012 held in conjunction with the City of Casey at Casey Fields in Cranbourne East.

The Melbourne Stars will encourage families and cricket fans to come along to the free event with the entire Stars’ team in attendance including captain Shane Warne, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Cameron White and Sri Lankan international Lasith Malinga.

The day will provide the chance for fans to get up close and personal with the green team with plenty of opportunities to score an autograph or photo with the players.

Those in attendance can also enjoy a carnival like atmosphere with roving entertainers, rides, music, stalls and family-friendly activities.

In addition to the fun and festivities there will be a plenty of cricket with super clinics for the kids, local teams sharing their love of the game along with the Sri Lankan Sunday Cricket Competition T20 match where Lasith Malinga will toss the coin.

The icing on the cake is the involvement of fellow Melbourne sporting clubs, the Melbourne Vixens and Melbourne Heart who will join the Stars with some of their players out at Casey.

Melbourne Stars Chief Executive, Clint Cooper is excited to work with the City of Casey to offer a day of action and fun to both Stars fans and the Casey community.

“The opportunity to work with the City of Casey to showcase the T20 version of our game is a fantastic opportunity for the Melbourne Stars,” Cooper said.

“The Stars team captained by Shane Warne and supported by a stellar line up including last year’s player of the tournament – David Hussey and local boy Clive Rose are keen to share some of their skills with those attending the event.

“While we are fortunate enough to call the MCG home, taking our game to suburban grounds is such an important part of developing our fan base and making this format of the game truly accessible to all.

“We sincerely hope that the Stars fans from all around Victoria and the residents of Casey get behind the Melbourne Stars and this great initiative of the Council.”
